January 7, 2015
ELS is pleased to announce, in conjunction with the United Nations and partnered with Adelphi University, our sponsorship of the 2015 Many Languages, One World Essay Contest and Global Youth Forum.
The goal of Many Languages, One World is to support multilingualism and the continued impact of the six official languages of the United Nations: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian
2015 will mark the second edition of Many Languages, One World. In 2014, over 4,000 people participated in some aspect of the competition. Nearly 1,500 essays were submitted by students from 128 different countries studying at a diverse group of universities around the world. The 60 winners represented 26 different countries and six continents.
This year, ten winners will be selected from each language group, with an additional ten winners chosen on merit from the remaining entries in all languages. ELS will award each winner with an all-expense-paid trip to New York during the week of July 20 – 26, 2015, to participate in the Global Youth Forum and discuss plans of action addressing selected topics from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The deadline for essay submissions is Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:59 PM EST. For full contest details, rules and entry guidelines, please click here.
